Experience

I have been teaching math to high school and college students for more than twenty years. During much of that time, I also worked with students one-on-one. I greatly enjoying working with students who don't like or are intimidated by math. Working through things step by step, I am able to help students achieve small victories and build confidence. My goal is to ensure that math does not become a barrier to the education or career a student wishes to pursue. Each student has different needs. Some require a foundation on which to build additional math skills and succeed in later courses, or even to employ those skills in their work. Others simply have to complete a math requirement so that they can finish a degree and go on with their lives. In addition to extensive teaching and tutoring experience, I have written content for three college-level math texts, and am working on a TEAS V test review manual. I have also served as a test scorer for the California Standards Test, the CAHSEE, and the GRE. Outside of teaching, I like to play chess and delve into philosophy and classical studies.
